In these little masterworks something only glimpsed before really stood out: Goernerβs ability to set a melody in relief by slightly anticipating the beat. It was a wonderful evening in many ways, but it would be good to see how Goerner handles music that relies less on colour and gesture. At his next Wigmore Hall date (on September 11) weβll have a chance to find out.
